Microsoft Project Online alternative

Project Online is being retired on 30 September 2026, with no grace period and no read-only mode. That turns a licence question into a deadline: the plans have to move. Here is what you keep and what you lose by moving to Gantify.

Short answer

If you used Project Online for scheduling — dependencies, calendars, constraints, critical path, baselines — Gantify covers it and costs nothing. If your organisation lives on earned value reporting, timesheet-driven portfolio management or the wider Microsoft 365 governance stack, Gantify is not a replacement for that part.

Where Gantify is behind

The honest list. If one of these is critical for you, Gantify is not the right tool yet.

  • No earned value (EVM) reporting, no Monte Carlo risk simulation, no PERT estimates.
  • No automatic resource levelling: over-allocation is shown, but you resolve it yourself.
  • No portfolio layer, no timesheets, no Power BI or SharePoint integration.

Where Gantify wins

  • It will still be here after 30 September 2026, and it costs nothing.
  • It reads the .mpp files Project produced, including calendars and baselines.
  • Reading a plan does not need a licence, so the whole team can see the schedule.

Try it with your own plan

Import the .mpp and compare the dates yourself. That is the only benchmark that counts.
